Ingredients:
- 2 medium-sized
zucchini
- 1 lb
(450g) lean ground turkey
- 2 cups
marinara sauce
- 2
cloves garlic, minced
- 1
small onion, diced
- 1
tablespoon olive oil
- 1
teaspoon dried oregano
- 1
teaspoon dried basil
- Salt
and pepper to taste
- Fresh
basil leaves, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare
the zucchini noodles: Trim the ends of the zucchini and cut them into
thin, noodle-like strips using a spiralizer or a vegetable peeler. Set the
zucchini noodles aside.
- Heat
the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic
and diced onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- Add
the ground turkey to the skillet and cook until it's browned and fully
cooked, breaking it up into smaller pieces with a spoon or spatula.
- Once
the turkey is cooked, add the marinara sauce, dried oregano, dried basil,
salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Reduce
the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow
the flavors to meld together.
- While
the sauce is simmering, you can cook the zucchini noodles. You have two
options: You can either sauté them in a separate pan for a few minutes
until they soften slightly, or you can leave them raw for a crunchier
texture. Choose the method you prefer.
- Once
the zucchini noodles are cooked to your desired consistency, remove them
from the heat.
- To
serve, place a generous portion of zucchini noodles on each plate and top
with a ladleful of the marinara sauce and ground turkey mixture.
- If
desired, garnish with freshly chopped basil leaves for added freshness and
flavor.
- Enjoy
your zucchini noodles with marinara sauce and lean ground turkey while
they're still warm!
This recipe serves approximately 4 people, but you can
adjust the quantities based on your needs. Feel free to add grated Parmesan
cheese or crushed red pepper flakes for an extra kick if you like.
